I’ve just had the pleasure of reading the next instalment in the Dark Child (Covens Rising) series. Oh how this series is going from strength to strength. The writing has really improved and I’m throughly enjoying these books. I can’t wait to read the next one either! Here’s what I thought of this episode…

I received a copy of this book for free by the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.This book is technically the fifth in the series of Dark Child books. So if you are interested in reading this series, you definitely need to read them in order. The series begins with Dark Child: Omnibus Edition before going through the Covens Rising series by episode number, as you can tell this is the forth episode in this series. These episode are quite short and normally don’t even take an hour to read through which makes them great books to read whilst on the go, or as I do read them as quick bedtime stories!

In this episode, Kat has unexpected visitors, pledges and even more tough decisions to make. Ben’s life was in the balance in the previous episode and his protection from Yara and those seeking to attack them, is very much at stake. In this episode we learn more of Kat’s background and powers, she also begins to take a role of responsibility and leadership with her position. This was a lovely episode which really showed progression and development in Kat’s character.

West’s episodes with this series just keep getting better and I’m glad I decided to read them after the first novel. The only problem is they’re too short and I hate waiting for the next books – they’re just too good! The characters and plot develop rapidly and with the plot thickening constantly. What I love about this series is that none of her characters seem to be “fillers” they all are actively involved and add to the story which makes these highly enjoyable to read.
