Hi there friends,

I’ve just come back from a lovely holiday where I’ve read a whole bunch of books, so expect reviews to be posted of those in the upcoming days. This book was something special, probably the best book I’ve read so far this year in children’s fiction. Something that as an adult I love as much as a child would too! Anyway, let’s get on with the review!

I received this book from the book’s publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Call fears magic, his nightmares are plagued by magicians – not monsters lurking under the bed. Stories of how his mother was killed by magic, magic possessed by the Mages’. As a result, his father is desperate for him not to join them. He’s about to find out that his father has not told him everything that he should know. The Magisterium will change everything, for better or worse.

This was one of, if not the best books I have read so far this year. Two of my favourite authors have finally joined forces and the result is spectacular. These masters of fantasy fiction had me well and truly hooked into Call’s world and really rooting for him throughout.

Who are true heroes and villains of the world? This is something which is about to be put to test as people are often not all they seem to be. The Magisterium is an enchanting magical world which tests students to their limits and will change their destinies forever. With twists, turns and the unexpected in every page it truly is a great read.

I didn’t realise upon reading the book that this was the first instalment of a five part series. I will definitely be eager to continue reading the series too after this thrilling instalment! The ending was tantalising and you’re just going to read to find out what awful decision Call is forced to make and how it will change everyone’s fate!

This truly was an excellent read so if you’re into fantasy fiction, enjoyed Harry Potter or similar books or have read any of the authors’ previous work I think you will love this series. I’m desperate to read the next instalment of the series and more books from both Holly Black and Cassandra Clare!

If you want to purchase a copy of this amazing book, you can do so from Amazon UK HERE. Please remember this isn’t the only place you can purchase books, support your local booksellers they’re worth the extra pennies! If you enjoyed my review, please hit that like button and I’ll try to review more books of this genre!

Happy reading,
Anna xx
