Hi there friends,
Here’s my second review of the new Doctor Who books! This book features Jon Pertwee as the third incarnation of the Doctor. Companionless and on death’s door, whatever can the Doctor do before he has to say goodbye for good?
I received a free ebook copy of this book by the book’s publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
In ‘The Village’ it is the 8th April today, it was yesterday, it will be tomorrow. In fact, it’s hard to remember a time when it wasn’t the 8th April. The Doctor is dying and his last visit is to one Miss Sarah Jane Smith. Something has happened with the TARDIS though and though the place he has arrived is Earth, there is no Sarah Jane. But where is he and why is everyone so unnaturally happy?
This was a great Doctor Who novel, short, sweet and with a great ending. The ‘villain’ of the book is really not what you’d expect, in fact they’re not that villainous after all… I’m not going to spoil anything for you though! The Wellness Parade was a great concept, though it ended up being slightly scary with how it turned out for the Doctor!
The reason I didn’t give the book 5/5 is mainly because the characterisation of the Third Doctor at times just didn’t feel right. Though it was really fun to read and it’s definitely a book you can get through speedily, it really draws you in and maintains your interest.
A fun and heartwarming book that is well worth a read. 4/5 stars!
